South Australia's largest ice cream manufacturer. Their factory is in Laura, where the company's links date back as far as 1880. Part of National Foods from 1991 til 2001, when a group of South Australian businessmen purchased the Golden North business.

Golden North ice cream is 100% palm oil free and made in South Australia. Golden North has been working with Adelaide Zoo on the issue of palm oil in food products. As a result Golden North's full range is now palm oil free.

With a $447,500 grant from the Australian Government's Clean Technology Food and Foundries Investment program, Golden North will upgrade its refrigeration system at its ice-cream manufacturing facility, 230 kilometres north of Adelaide. With initiatives funded by the grant, Golden North expects to: Decrease the carbon emissions intensity of its refrigeration system by 47%; save $140,000 in annual energy costs; and boost refrigeration capacity by 44%.
