In 2019 this company was fined almost NZ$40,000 and ordered to pay a total of NZ$15,000 to three children who had moderate to severe allergic reactions after consuming mispackaged Sizzlers sausages. The children became sick after an incident in September 2017 when staff at Hellers' Wiri factory didn't follow procedures, resulting in Cheese Sizzlers being packaged as Original Sizzlers.
