Greenpeace New Zealand are asking New Zealand's five main tuna brands to stop selling Pacific tuna caught using indiscriminate Fish Aggregation Devices (FADs). Foodstuffs, which owns the Pams brand, is letting consumers know that it is 'actively investigating alternative options [to FAD caught tuna]'. It has also announced it will offer pole and line caught tuna by the end of the year. If Foodstuffs delivers on these promises it has the potential to become the market leader for sustainable canned tuna in New Zealand.
