In contrast to consumer expectations and free range eggs standards across the world, the government caved to pressure from a few industrial scale egg producers and major retailers to introduce a free range eggs standard in 2017 allowing producers to pack 10,000 hens into a hectare. The CSIRO, RSPCA, Choice and many others recommend a maximum of 1,500 hens per hectare. This company uses a stocking density of 10,000 hens per hectare for its free range eggs, well in excess of consumer expectations.

This company produces cage eggs, where each bird is allocated space less than the size of a piece of A4 paper. Birds are unable to turn around easily, stretch out, flap their wings or exercise. Cages do not satisfy the hen's behavioural need to perch, dust bathe, forage, and lay their eggs in a secluded nest.

In 2016 the Federal Court ordered Mr Zelko Lendich, the former managing director of Farm Pride Foods, to pay a pecuniary penalty of $120,000 for an attempt to induce a cartel arrangement between competing egg producers, in proceedings brought by the ACCC. The Court declared that between 19 January and 8 February 2012, Mr Lendich attempted to encourage certain egg producers in Australia to enter into an arrangement or arrive at an understanding that would limit the production and supply of eggs in Australia.
