Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) is a not-for-profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. Animals Kangaroo killing
Macro Meats is the biggest kangaroo meat company in Australia. The commercial kangaroo kill 'quota' for 2009 (the number permitted to be killed) is just under 4 million kangaroos. 60 to 70% of kangaroo meat goes into the Australian pet food market. Animals Australia and all other Australian animal protection groups strongly oppose, on welfare grounds, this mass slaughter of Australian wildlife.

Animals Animal welfare claims
Macro Meats have had a policy to only cull male kangaroos since early 2012. This company also adheres to the National Code of Practice for the Humane Shooting of Kangaroos and Wallabies for Commercial Purposes, and requires that field harvesters do not shoot if there is any doubt that they will not achieve a sudden and humane death by a single shot to the head.

Animals Kangaroo industry in Australia - reports by THINKK
THINKK, the think tank for kangaroos, based at the University of Technology Sydney and supported by Voiceless, released two reports in late 2010 examining the killing of kangaroos in Australia.
Each year over three million kangaroos are 'harvested' and over a million joeys are killed as part of the commercial industry. This is the largest land-based slaughter of wildlife in the world.
